Control and Restraint : Aggression Training

We provide prevention and management of aggression training, nationally and internationally, for staff working in high risk environments, including:
- Health Care Facilities
- Educational Facilities
- Airport Facilities
- Industrial Facilities
- Corporate Facilities
The specialised control and restraint training will provide staff with ethical and effective prevention strategies, physical and psychological self-defence manoeuvres, disengagement skills and standard therapeutic holds to respond individually or as a team in the management of aggression.
TECHNIQUES
The disengagement and control and restraint techniques are derived from Tai Chi Chuan and taught within a safe, legal and ethical framework. They are recognised techniques that maximise the safety and protect the dignity of all concerned.
DISENGAGEMENT TECHNIQUES
These are specific self-defence techniques that provide individual staff with psychological and physical manoeuvres to disengage and escape safely from the aggressive situation or potentially aggressive situation.
CONTROL AND RESTRAINT TECHNIQUES (Used as a last resort.)
These techniques are a series of therapeutic holds that provide staff with an organised and systematic approach using physical manoeuvres to safely control and restrain the aggressive client.
All techniques are designed within a legal and ethical framework.
PRINCIPLES OF CONTROL AND RESTRAINT
Our techniques have a high potential for control and a low potential for injury. However, injuries may still occur because of the human factors of misapplication, miscalculation and excessive force.
Body part isolation limits the subject access to weapons (natural and carried).
We use techniques that have a high control potential and limit confrontations to a single location. The control and restraint techniques we use incorporate unbalancing and mechanical advantage as the primary response, not pain compliance.
- Balance displacement
- Leverage
- Body part isolation
- Low injury potential techniques
The training curriculum places great emphasis to reflect and over represent prevention methodology as priority and that control and restraint techniques are only used as a last resort.
WHY CHOOSE US
Many courses offer general advice and techniques with no regard to a client's needs or situations relevant to their workplace. The instructors are experienced in both relevant theory presentation and hands-on instruction. Our courses provide a unique learning experience designed to suit all levels of needs and workplace situations.
Courses can build and instil confidence and awareness in staff. The outward projection of this elevated state of confidence and awareness is enough in many instances to prevent and de-escalate potential violent situations.
Our courses are structured with carefully designed modules that interlock to provide a total training package from confrontation management and de-escalation, threat recognition and avoidance through to defensive tactics to deal with high level life-threatening situations.
The success of these training packages comes from the teaching of a limited number of easy to learn, easy to retain, extremely effective techniques and applying these techniques to suit a large number of situations.
BALANCED APPROACH
In the development of our prevention strategies, disengagement and restraint techniques we have looked at best practice models, target population, programme components, resource implications and implementation and evaluation processes. By incorporating disengagement and control and restraint principles of Tai Chi Chuan, we now offer a comprehensive and advanced control and restraint training system
